West London Pad
Technology in Harmony with Design
This West London residence is a considered expression of mid-century modern design, where every detail has its place and technology is integrated with the same care as the interiors themselves.
Working closely with the client’s vision, we designed a discreet technology scheme that complements the home’s distinctive aesthetic. Speakers are installed throughout the property, with custom-painted grilles matched to the warm, tobacco-toned ceilings, allowing the audio system to blend seamlessly into the architecture. Lutron lighting control creates an inviting atmosphere throughout, while Control4 brings together distributed audio, door entry and home cinema within one intuitive system.
In the basement, the brief was to transform the entertaining space into a dedicated cinema at the touch of a button. A bespoke colour-matched drop-down screen, and fabric-clad front and rear walls, conceal the loudspeakers and acoustic treatment, preserving the room’s character when the cinema is not in use.
One particularly considered detail is the custom joinery created to house an additional active subwoofer. Inspired by the proportions and styling of a vintage 1960s and 1970s loudspeaker, the piece doubles as a side table between the room’s generous L-shaped sofas, bringing together acoustic performance, functionality and period-inspired design.
The result is a home designed for both relaxed everyday living and entertaining family and friends. Carefully balanced lighting, beautifully integrated audio and a cinema that appears when needed ensure the technology enhances the experience of the home without ever competing with its design.
For us, this is the essence of considered integration: technology that performs exceptionally, yet always knows when to take a step back.
